Right-wing activist Tommy Robinson has said he has left the UK after police warned him that he had been named in an Islamic State-linked publication encouraging violence against him.
Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, posted a video on his X account showing a phone call with a police officer who said intelligence indicated his name had appeared in a magazine linked to extremists.
In the recording, the officer told Robinson that a publication associated with Islamic State Khorasan Province had encouraged others to commit violence against him.
The officer also warned that the information did not authorise Robinson to carry weapons or take any pre-emptive action, and advised him on personal safety measures.
Robinson asked during the call whether he could obtain a copy of the publication but was told it was likely to be prohibited material.
On Friday, Robinson wrote on X that he had left the country and was considering relocating his family due to security concerns. He said he needed time to assess the situation and would provide further updates.
A spokeswoman for Bedfordshire Police confirmed that officers had contacted him.
She said: “Officers contacted a man from Bedfordshire after being made aware that his name appeared in prohibited material produced by a proscribed organisation. He was provided with safeguarding advice and support in line with our standard processes.”
Police confirmed that the phone call shared by Robinson took place on Thursday and was genuine.
