Teen Arrested After Kingsbury School Stabbing as Counter-Terror Police Lead Probe
A 13-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following the stabbing of two pupils at a north-west London school, as counter-terrorism officers take charge of the investigation.
Detective Chief Superintendent Luke Williams confirmed that the suspect, believed to be aged 13, was arrested after leaving the scene. A weapon has also been recovered by police.
Two boys, aged 12 and 13, were stabbed at Kingsbury High School on Bacon Lane at around 12:40pm. Both were taken to hospital, with one treated as a priority at a major trauma centre. Police say their conditions are understood to be serious.
Speaking in Brent, DCS Williams said officers are keeping an open mind about the motive behind the attack.
“This is a fast-moving and developing investigation, but we’re not currently looking for anyone else in relation to this incident,” he said.
“At this very early stage, we’re keeping an open mind as tonity and motivation. However, due to the surrounding circumstances, the investigation is now being led by Counter-Terrorism Policing London.”
He added that a terrorist incident has not been declared at this stage.
Earlier reports suggested the suspect may have climbed over a wall to enter the school and allegedly used pepper spray in a classroom before the attack. These claims have not yet been confirmed by police.
The school was placed in lockdown following the incident, with parents and carers informed directly. The situation has since been brought under control, though heightened security remains in place.
Officers continue to examine CCTV, forensic evidence and witness accounts as the investigation progresses.
