Three teenagers have appeared in court charged with the murder of 16-year-old Chloe Watson, who was found stabbed in Austhorpe, Leeds, according to West Yorkshire Police.
Officers were called to Kennerleigh Avenue at 05:55 on Saturday after the teenager, from the Cleckheaton area, was found unconscious in the street with serious injuries. She was taken to hospital but later died.
West Yorkshire Police said Kayla Smith, 18, Archie Rycroft, 19, and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have all been charged with murder. They appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court, where Smith and Rycroft were remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court, while the 17-year-old was remanded into secure accommodation.
This follows earlier updates confirming Chloe’s death and the launch of a murder investigation after she was found with stab wounds in the street.
An 18-year-old man remains in custody on suspicion of murder, while another 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl arrested in connection with the case have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, with officers continuing to appeal for information from anyone who was in the Austhorpe area in the early hours of Saturday.
Tributes have been paid to Chloe by her family, who described her as a “beautiful princess” and spoke of the impact of her death.
Her father’s family also described their “immeasurable” loss, remembering her as “full of joy” with her future ahead of her.
This comes as detectives continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing.
