Sky News has released a revised version of its report on recent violence in Amsterdam involving fans of Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv football club. The initial report detailed anti-Arab and pro-genocide slogans allegedly chanted by Maccabi supporters and highlighted incidents of vandalism attributed to Israeli fans.

However, the re-edited report has significantly downplayed or removed mentions of anti-Arab slurs, instead focusing on antisemitic violence directed at Maccabi fans.

The updated version includes new perspectives, such as a statement from a Maccabi supporter who described the incidents as reminiscent of events on October 7 but does not feature interviews with Amsterdam residents or other local perspectives.

Additionally, the original report’s conclusion, which referenced the response from Dutch politicians and noted their omission of alleged assaults by Maccabi fans, was also removed.

An editor’s note accompanying the revised video states that the initial report “didn’t meet Sky News’ standards for balance and impartiality.” While the revised report briefly acknowledges instances of violence by Maccabi fans, the re-edit notably shifts emphasis away from the anti-Arab chants and the violence initiated by Maccabi fans, affecting how the events are publicly interpreted.
