A police investigation remains under way after two teenage boys were arrested on suspicion of raping a 15-year-old girl in a Bradford park, with officers continuing to examine the scene and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The alleged attack took place at Pitt Hill Park in the Holme Wood area of Bradford at around 6pm on Wednesday. West Yorkshire Police arrested two boys, aged 16 and 17, who remain in custody while detectives continue their enquiries. A police cordon remained in place at the park on Thursday as forensic investigations continued.
The 15-year-old girl is being supported by specially trained officers.
Holme Wood and Bierley Green Party councillor Iain McInnes described the report as “deeply concerning”.
“My thoughts are with the young person involved and their family,” he said.
“As the matter is subject to a police investigation, it would not be appropriate for me to comment on the circumstances of the case.
“I am confident they will be investigating this sad incident thoroughly.
“I would encourage anyone with information to assist West Yorkshire Police with their enquiries. It is particularly important the young person gets the help and support needed.”
West Yorkshire Police has appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who was in the area at the time, to come forward as officers continue their investigation.
