A mass shooting at Risbergska School in Örebro, Sweden, has resulted in at least five people being injured, according to Swedish authorities.

The attack occurred shortly before 13:00 local time, prompting an immediate response from emergency services. Witnesses reported hearing automatic gunfire, and images from inside the school depicted overturned chairs used to barricade classroom doors.

Initial reports suggested the suspect had shot himself, though authorities have not officially confirmed his condition. Police have locked down the area and established a security perimeter around the school as emergency teams continue their response.

Hospitals in Örebro have cleared emergency rooms in preparation for further casualties. Despite earlier indications that the immediate threat had ended, Swedish police have now stated that “the danger is not over” and have urged the public to avoid Västhaga, the district where the school is located.

Officials are expected to provide further updates as the situation develops.
