Alexander Isak has told Newcastle United he will not play for the club again, regardless of whether the summer transfer window closes without a move. The 25-year-old Sweden international has been training alone after being left out of Eddie Howe’s squad during ongoing transfer speculation.

Alexander Isak has told Newcastle United he will not play for them again.

The 25-year-old striker, linked with Liverpool, views his Magpies career as over even if the window shuts without a move.

Reports suggest Isak is determined to end his time at St James’ Park and has no intention of reintegrating with the squad. Earlier in the summer, the striker returned to former club Real Sociedad to train away from the team after missing Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia.

Newcastle have informed Isak that he is not for sale this summer, but the club is monitoring potential replacements in case of a departure. Targets under consideration reportedly include Randal Kolo Muani of Paris Saint-Germain, Yoane Wissa of Brentford, Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, and Porto’s Samu Aghehowa.

Isak is not expected to feature in Newcastle’s opening Premier League match against Aston Villa. Liverpool are understood to be closely monitoring the situation, with the striker high on their list of potential signings.
