Two EasyJet aircraft clipped wings while taxiing at Manchester Airport early this morning, causing a brief suspension of flights.
The incident occurred at around 06:30 BST as one plane prepared for departure to Paris and the other to Gibraltar. There have been no reports of injuries.
Passengers from both aircraft were disembarked after the collision, and a safety inspection found minor damage to the wing tips. Operations at the airport have since resumed.
Tynisha Chaudhry, a passenger on the Gibraltar-bound flight, described the moment of impact as being “like a massive hit”, similar to a car crash. She said several fire engines and safety vehicles attended the scene, with passengers remaining onboard during inspections before being escorted back to the terminal.
An EasyJet spokesperson confirmed the incident, stating: “The aircraft returned to stand to disembark customers who have been provided with refreshment vouchers whilst replacement aircraft are arranged to operate the flights. We apologise to customers for the delay to their flights. The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority.”
