The FBI has raided the home of John Bolton, the former national security adviser under Donald Trump, as part of an investigation into the handling of classified documents.
The search took place early on Friday morning at Bolton’s residence in the Washington DC area, beginning around 07:00 ET. It was first reported by the New York Post and later confirmed by the Associated Press, which cited an unnamed source familiar with the operation.
Bolton, who served as Trump’s national security adviser between April 2018 and September 2019 before becoming a vocal critic of the former president, has not commented publicly on the raid.
The FBI has not released details of what agents were seeking or whether any materials were seized. FBI director Kash Patel posted a cryptic message on social media platform X shortly after the operation began, stating: “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”
