The two women, along with PTI lawyer Salman Akram Raja and other party supporters, were stopped at a police checkpoint near the prison. Sources reported that they had been staging a sit-in when the arrests were made. Several PTI workers were also taken into custody during the operation.

Rawalpindi police later transported the detained group toward Chakri Interchange. The detentions come amid heightened tensions between PTI and authorities over access to political detainees and the treatment of prisoners.

Aleema Khan had earlier told reporters that they had travelled to Adiala Jail specifically to meet Imran Khan and intended to remain there until granted permission. “We were stopped just two kilometres from the prison,” she said before being taken away by police.
