Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a young woman was killed outside a care home in east London. Officers were called to Chadwell Heath Lane, Romford, at 5.34am on Saturday after reports of an attack. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene, but the woman, believed to be in her twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A large cordon has been established around Chadwell Heath Care Home as forensics officers collect evidence. No arrests have yet been made, and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward. The woman’s family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers, while a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
Detective Superintendent Brian Hobbs said: “Our thoughts today are with the victim’s family and friends in light of this truly tragic event. Local residents will see an increased number of officers in and around the area while our investigative work is carried out.”
Residents described the area as heavily policed, with officers knocking on doors for information. Police confirmed that the investigation is being treated as a priority, with officers working to trace the suspect responsible for the killing.
