A man charged in connection with the death of Suhail Choudry has appeared before Bradford Crown Court for the first time.
Rashid Hussain, 41, of Redcliffe Street, Keighley, faces charges of murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and violent disorder.
Mr Choudry, 35, died in hospital on 11 February, three days after suffering serious head injuries in an assault in Keighley.
The court previously heard he was found in Flasby Street shortly after 3.14am on Sunday, 8 February.
Hussain appeared via video link from HMP Leeds. His Honour Judge Neil Clark set a plea and trial preparation hearing for 19 March, with a provisional trial date of 17 August.
Judge Clark told the defendant that the trial date “may or may not change depending on whether there are more defendants added to this case”.
There was no application for bail and Hussain was remanded into custody.
Mr Choudry, a father of two, was expecting a third child with his wife, Zara. She has appealed for anyone with information to contact police.
Detectives from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the assault and incidents believed to be linked.
Police have confirmed that eight people have been arrested in connection with Mr Choudry’s death.
