A 15-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder after a teenage girl was stabbed at a secondary school near Norwich.
The incident took place at Thorpe St Andrew School on Wednesday morning. Emergency services were called to the school at around 10:25 GMT following reports that a girl had been stabbed.
The victim, a pupil at the school, was taken to hospital with what police described as minor injuries. She has since been discharged.
Norfolk Police said a 15-year-old boy had been arrested following the incident and later charged with attempted murder and possession of a knife on school premises. The suspect cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age.
The boy was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning before being charged. He is due to appear at Norwich Youth Court on Friday.
During the incident, the school was placed into lockdown. Pupils were instructed to switch off their mobile phones and hide under their desks while staff dealt with the situation.
Thorpe St Andrew School has more than 1,800 pupils. The school reopened the following day, although staff said additional support would be provided for students who needed it.
In a letter to parents, principal Penny Bignell said the priority was supporting the school community following the incident.
She said students who did not feel ready to return to school would be supported and that additional support would be available for pupils who wished to speak to staff about what had happened.
Norfolk Police said officers would remain present at the school and in the surrounding area in the coming days to provide reassurance to students, staff and families.
