A prisoner serving a life sentence for murder has been charged with attempting to kill a prison officer and carrying out a separate assault at two high-security jails.
Ahmed Ali Alid, 47, is accused of attempted murder following an incident at HMP Full Sutton in August 2025.
He is also charged with causing actual bodily harm after a separate incident at HMP Wakefield two months later.
In addition, Alid faces a charge of possessing an offensive weapon while in prison.
Counter Terrorism Policing confirmed that Alid, a Moroccan national, remains in custody within the prison estate.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Alid is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of a pensioner in Hartlepool.
