Two men accused of murdering a father-of-two in Keighley have denied the charge during a court appearance.

Suhail Choudry, 35, died in hospital on 11 February, three days after he was found seriously injured on Flasby Street.

Prosecutors allege he was chased and attacked by a group of men armed with weapons including sticks and bats.

Rashid Hussain, 41, of Redcliffe Street in Keighley, and Majid Hussain, 42, of Devonshire Street, entered not guilty pleas to murder at Bradford Crown Court.

Both men also denied related charges of violent disorder and possession of metal bars during the incident on 8 February.

Three other defendants — Mohammed Khan, 23, Faisal Khan, 26, both of Malsis Road in Keighley, and Hakeem Gulzar, 27, of Plover Street — appeared alongside them via video link from HMP Leeds.

They face the same charges but were not asked to enter pleas at the hearing.

Judge Jonathan Rose, Honorary Recorder of Bradford, said a provisional trial date had been set for 25 January next year at Bradford Crown Court.

However, an earlier hearing has been scheduled at Sheffield Crown Court on 5 October.

All five defendants were remanded into custody and are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on 14 August.
