A major fire has broken out at an industrial premises on Clarence Avenue in Trafford Park, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky that were visible across Greater Manchester.
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 1.25pm on Friday, April 24. Fire engines from Stretford, Eccles and Manchester Central were among the first to respond.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters found a significant blaze involving part of a factory building. Crews were also told that chemicals and oil drums were stored nearby, raising concerns at the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing a huge cloud of smoke near Trafford Park and the Trafford Centre, with some also describing hearing loud bangs before the smoke spread across the area.
Residents living nearby have been urged to keep their doors and windows closed, while people have also been told to avoid the area as firefighters continue to tackle the incident.
The full cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
