A woman shot dead outside a Sheffield bar has been named as Shanice Brookes, with police confirming she was an innocent bystander in the incident.
Ms Brookes, 30, was fatally injured after shots were fired outside One Four One on West Street in the early hours of Monday morning.
South Yorkshire Police said she had been “enjoying a night out” when she was struck at around 2.45am. Officers and paramedics treated her at the scene before she was taken to hospital, where she later died.
Investigators believe Ms Brookes may have been sitting close to an intended target when the shooting took place.
Police have released a CCTV image of a white Audi believed to be linked to the incident and are appealing for information.
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting. A 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were detained in Stockport, while another 30-year-old man was arrested in Sheffield. All remain in custody.
Ms Brookes, a digital creator and photographer, had also worked as a child and youth worker. She was due to graduate from a course in photography, videography and graphic design at The Sheffield College.
In a statement, her family described her as a “deeply loved daughter” and an “amazing mum” to her young son.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said the investigation was ongoing and appealed for witnesses to come forward, asking anyone with information to contact police quoting incident number 135 of May 25, 2026.
