The Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that poet Ahmed Farhad, who had been reported missing, has been arrested and is now in police custody. This revelation came during a court session on Wednesday, as reported by ARY News.

The AGP submitted a report from Dher Kot police station in Kashmir to the court presided over by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani. Justice Kayani, addressing the matter, indicated that he will refer the missing persons’ case file to a larger bench for further deliberation and subsequently adjourned the hearing.

In an earlier session, the court had summoned senior officials from intelligence agencies and the federal law minister concerning the disappearance of Ahmed Farhad Shah, a poet and journalist. The court’s demand for clarity on the case was encapsulated in an eight-page written order issued on the preceding Friday. Justice Kayani directed the authorities to locate the missing journalist and report their findings to the IHC registrar by May 29.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani also mandated that all cases related to missing persons be broadcasted live, enhancing transparency in such sensitive matters. Furthermore, he instructed the Sector Commanders of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI), along with the Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), to be present at the next hearing scheduled for May 29.

Additionally, Justice Kayani summoned Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and the secretaries of defense and interior to appear in the forthcoming hearing.
