Students at the Punjab Group of Colleges (PGC) in Lahore launched protests on Monday following the alleged rape of a first-year female student by a security guard on college premises. The protests began at Campus 10 and quickly spread to other campuses, with demonstrators gathering outside Campus 16 near Hafeez Centre. Tensions between students and police escalated as the protests grew.

Carrying banners, students expressed their determination to continue protesting until justice is served. Clashes between the demonstrators and police led to several injuries, including one student who was critically hurt. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and the critically injured student was transported to Services Hospital on Jail Road for treatment.

As the protests expanded into the Muslim Town area, students voiced frustration over what they perceived as attempts by both the college administration and local authorities to conceal information about the alleged incident. They called for justice, demanding transparency in the ongoing investigation into the case.

In an attempt to disperse the crowds, police arrested several protesting students, who were later transferred to Model Town and Gulberg police stations.

The alleged incident involves a first-year student at Campus 10 of Punjab Group of Colleges, who was reportedly raped by a security guard in the college’s basement. Despite media reports, police confirmed that no formal First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, as the victim’s family has yet to submit an official complaint. However, the police have arrested the security guard allegedly involved and are currently searching for the victim, whose identity remains unknown.

Meanwhile, the registration of Punjab College for Women has been suspended indefinitely pending further notice. The college administration has denied the circulating reports on social media, claiming that no such incident has been reported to either the police or the college. In a statement, the administration asserted that no student, parent, or guardian had raised concerns about the alleged incident, though they affirmed their commitment to working with authorities to ensure a transparent and thorough investigation.
