Floodwaters from the Ravi River have entered Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib, stranding about 100 people, including 18 pilgrims.
Officials said the flooding followed a breach in the nearby river, causing water levels to rise 9 to 10 feet inside the gurdwara complex. Pictures circulating on social media showing the flood were confirmed to be genuine by Kartarpur Project deputy secretary, who emphasised the water came from flooding rather than rainfall.

Those stranded include local pilgrims, staff members, and religious workers. Efforts are underway to secure a helicopter to airlift those trapped, but rescue or emergency teams have not yet reached the site.
Local journalist Mian Shahid Iqbal reported that the flood breach had also inundated the Darbar and submerged the national highway connecting Narowal in Shakargarh district. According to the deputy commissioner of Narowal, more than 250 residents have so far been moved to safer places.
Settlements near Nala Oj and Juster in Shakargarh are also facing rising water levels, adding further pressure on rescue operations.
