Ghislaine Maxwell has told US officials that a so-called “client list” linked to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein does not exist, rejecting years of speculation and conspiracy theories.
In a 300-page transcript released this week, Maxwell said that while Epstein moved in high-profile circles, there was no secret list of powerful associates involved in his crimes. “There is no list,” she said.
The July interview took place with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, a former personal lawyer for Donald Trump. The session included questions about a range of public figures from Bill Gates and Elon Musk to Prince Andrew and Naomi Campbell.
Maxwell, 62, denied witnessing inappropriate conduct by either Donald Trump or former President Bill Clinton, both of whom had been linked socially to Epstein. She described Trump as a “gentleman in all respects” during the occasions she saw him.
She also defended Prince Andrew, calling allegations that he had sex with a 17-year-old girl at her London home “mind-blowingly not conceivable”. Maxwell described the widely circulated photo showing Andrew with Virginia Giuffre, with herself in the background, as “fake”. Giuffre later reached a financial settlement with Andrew in 2022, with no admission of liability.
The transcript revealed Maxwell claimed she had not introduced Prince Andrew to Epstein, disputing long-standing reports. She spoke at length about Andrew’s relationship with both Epstein and Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.
Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual abuse, took her own life earlier this year. Her family condemned the US Department of Justice for interviewing Maxwell, describing her as a “monster” whose testimony cannot be trusted.
Maxwell also addressed Epstein’s death in a New York jail cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges. Although officially ruled a suicide, she said she did not believe he killed himself, while dismissing conspiracy theories that he was murdered to protect others.
Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in procuring and trafficking underage girls for Epstein. She has petitioned the US Supreme Court to overturn her conviction and has sought a pardon from Trump. Shortly after the July interview, she was transferred from a Florida prison to a low-security facility in Texas.
The White House has stated that “no leniency is being given or discussed” in Maxwell’s case.
