Paul Gallagher, the older brother of Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher, has appeared in court to face rape and a series of violent sex allegations.

The 59-year-old DJ and photographer from East Finchley, north London, is accused of rape, sexual assault, coercive control and making threats to kill. He has also been charged with three counts of intentional strangulation and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2022 and 2024 and relate to one woman, who is being supported by specially trained officers, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Gallagher, who grew up with his brothers in Burnage, Manchester, has never been involved in Oasis, the band currently in the middle of a sold-out global reunion tour.

Police confirmed that the charges followed an investigation that began earlier this year. Gallagher is due to face further hearings as the case proceeds through the courts.
