Negotiations are progressing over a potential transfer of Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United to Napoli, with the Serie A side confident of securing a deal before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Although not part of manager Ruben Amorim’s so-called ‘bomb squad’, the Danish forward has been left out of United’s opening two Premier League fixtures as discussions with Napoli advance. United believe a transfer will be finalised in the coming days.
Napoli manager Antonio Conte has made it clear that a replacement is needed for Romelu Lukaku, who faces around four months on the sidelines with a thigh injury. Sources suggest the two clubs are not far apart on valuation, raising expectations that Hojlund will complete a move to Italy before the window shuts.
Hojlund, 21, joined United from Atalanta in 2023 and scored 16 goals in all competitions during his first season, but has struggled for consistency. Napoli see him as an ideal fit for their attack, and talks are said to be in the final stages.
