Three people have been killed and eight others injured in a mass shooting at a nightclub in Brooklyn, New York, police have confirmed.
The attack took place overnight at the “Taste Of The City Lounge” on Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights. Speaking at a news conference on Sunday, New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said multiple shooters were involved in the incident, though no suspects have yet been taken into custody.
The victims include a 27-year-old man, a 35-year-old man and another male of an unknown age who were all pronounced dead at the scene. The eight people who were wounded were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.
“It’s a terrible thing that happened this morning and we’re going to investigate to determine what went down,” Tisch told reporters, confirming that officers remained at the scene as investigations continued.
The shooting adds to a string of gun violence incidents in New York City in recent months, with police under pressure to tackle rising concerns about public safety. Detectives are now piecing together surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts in the hope of identifying those responsible.
