Four men have been arrested on suspicion of plotting acts of terrorism during coordinated raids in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and the West Midlands.
Counter Terrorism Policing North East (CTPNE) confirmed that the arrests took place on Friday under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000. The men include a 33-year-old detained in Leeds, a 31-year-old in Huddersfield, a 34-year-old in Derby, and a 49-year-old in West Bromwich.
All four suspects remain in custody at a local police station, where they are being questioned by counter-terrorism officers. Searches are being carried out at several addresses linked to the investigation.
A spokeswoman for CTPNE said the operation was “pre-planned and intelligence-led” and stressed that there is no indication of any immediate threat to the public.
Further details about the suspected plot have not been disclosed, and police confirmed that inquiries remain ongoing.
