Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has spoken out on Gaza, calling the situation “worse by the day” and urging his followers to donate to humanitarian organisations.
In a series of Instagram story posts, Hamilton referenced a new United Nations commission report which described Israel’s actions in Gaza as genocide. He highlighted that more than 10% of Gaza’s population has been killed or wounded in the past two years, including tens of thousands of children.
“The latest incursion on Gaza City has forced hundreds of thousands from their homes, with hospitals overwhelmed and famine taking hold,” Hamilton wrote. “As human beings, we cannot stand by and let this continue to happen.”
The Mercedes driver revealed that he had donated to three aid groups: the Palestine Red Crescent, Doctors Without Borders, and Save the Children UK. He urged fans to contribute, saying these organisations were “working tirelessly to help those who need it”.
“It’s hard not to feel powerless in the face of so much tragedy,” he added. “But we can’t stand by and do nothing.”
Hamilton’s posts come amid growing international pressure on governments to take action after the UN’s genocide finding, which named senior Israeli officials as responsible.
