Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens after the player arrived at the club’s Carrington training complex on Monday.
The 22-year-old Royal Antwerp stopper boarded a private jet earlier in the day and is now undergoing final checks before sealing an £18.2m transfer. Lammens has agreed a five-year contract and is expected to be unveiled before the 7pm transfer deadline.
United sources have described Lammens as an exciting prospect with significant potential, although it remains uncertain whether he will immediately assume the role of first-choice goalkeeper. Manager Ruben Amorim said over the weekend that it was “hard to be a Manchester United goalkeeper in this moment”, reflecting the scrutiny the position is under.
Meanwhile, United’s pursuit of Aston Villa’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez has ended. Reports suggest that any deal for Martínez depended on Jadon Sancho leaving the club.
