Junaid Safdar, the son of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has tied the knot with Shanzeh Ali in a nikah ceremony held in Lahore.
Shanzeh Ali is the granddaughter of senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Rohail Asghar. The nikah was solemnised by the sajjada nashin of the shrine of Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani, while the bride’s consent was obtained by Council of Islamic Ideology chairman Mufti Raghib Hussain Naeemi.
A large number of political leaders and family members attended the ceremony, including PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Other attendees included Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Hamza Shehbaz, Salman Shehbaz, Hussain Nawaz, Hassan Nawaz, senior party figures and several foreign guests.
For the ceremony, the groom wore an ivory sherwani paired with a gold-toned turban, while the bride was dressed in a traditional pink outfit complemented by jewellery.
The valima reception is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Jati Umra Farms, where around 800 guests have been invited. Federal and provincial ministers, senior political figures and foreign guests are expected to attend.
Wedding events began earlier with a mehndi ceremony held on Friday at Jati Umra, attended by close family members and guests. On the occasion, Junaid Safdar wore a navy-blue traditional kurta with golden buttons, paired with a shawl.
This is Junaid Safdar’s second marriage. He previously married Ayesha Saif Khan in 2021, with the marriage ending in separation in 2023.
