Jurors at Warwick Crown Court have been shown evidence in the trial of two men accused over the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton last July.
Prosecutors allege that Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, and Mohammad Kabir, 24, approached the girl near a park. CCTV evidence played to the jury showed the men leaving the area and later walking with the girl on a residential street, where Mulakhil asked her age. Prosecutors said it would have been apparent she was under 13 and vulnerable.
Mulakhil is accused of multiple offences including rape, sexual assault, child abduction and taking indecent images. He has pleaded guilty to one count of oral rape and denies other charges. Kabir denies all charges against him, including attempted abduction and intentional strangulation.
Prosecutors told the court that the girl later disclosed she had been raped and appeared frightened in the aftermath. Witnesses described her as distressed and concerned that one of the men might return. Evidence including CCTV from a nearby shop, where Mulakhil was seen with the girl after the incident, was also presented.
The jury was further told that Kabir allegedly engaged with the girl earlier in the day and attempted to lead her away. Both defendants, described in court as having no fixed address, are being assisted by interpreters.
The trial, which opened this week, continues as the prosecution and defence present further evidence.
