Police have confirmed that a body has been found in the sea during the search for Alexander Key, the partner of Assisi Jackson, who is the granddaughter of Mick Jagger.

Officers had been searching for the 37-year-old after he was reported missing in the Boscastle area of Cornwall in January.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said officers and HM Coastguard were called at around 6.30pm on 31 January after a man’s body was discovered in the sea at Bude.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Formal identification has yet to be completed, but police said they believe the body to be that of Alexander Key, who was reported missing on 24 January.

His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will now be prepared for the coroner.

Mr Key was the partner of Assisi Jackson, daughter of Jade Jagger. The couple share two children.

Jade Jagger had previously shared police appeals on social media in an effort to help locate Mr Key after he was last seen at a pub in Cornwall.

Mr Key was a co-owner of The Rocket Store, a popular seafood restaurant in Boscastle, which is known for using locally sourced produce, including fish caught by his family.

Police said Mr Key’s family had thanked officers, HM Coastguard and members of the public for their support during the search, and asked that their privacy be respected at this time.

Search efforts had focused on coastal areas around north Cornwall after his disappearance, with specialist teams involved in the operation.

An inquest is expected to take place in due course following the completion of formal identification and coroner’s procedures.
