Three men charged with murder following the death of Bradford district father-of-two Suhail Choudry could face trial in 2027 after a court hearing was postponed due to technical difficulties.
Mr Choudry, 35, died in hospital after suffering head injuries during an attack on Flasby Street, Keighley, in the early hours of February 8.
Mohammed Aliyan Khan, 23, and Faisal Khan, 26, both of Malsis Road, Keighley, and Hakeem Gulzar, 27, of Plover Street, Keighley, have each been charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and violent disorder.
The three defendants were due to appear at Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday (February 25) via prison video link. However, technical problems meant the hearing could not proceed as planned. They are now expected to appear in person on February 26.
All three have been remanded in custody.
A fourth man, Rashid Hussain, 41, of Redcliffe Street, Keighley, is also charged with murder, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and violent disorder. He remains in custody.
Hussain’s trial had initially been scheduled for August 17 this year. However, after being informed that additional defendants were in custody, His Honour Judge Neil Clark set a new joint trial date of January 25, 2027. The court was told the case could last up to eight weeks.
The hearing also heard that four further individuals remain on police bail, and that three additional arrests have been made as part of the ongoing investigation.
West Yorkshire Police have previously stated that initial enquiries suggest Mr Choudry was chased and assaulted by a group armed with weapons including bats and sticks.
The next court appearance is expected to take place this week.
