Liverpool FC has announced that club legend Alan Hansen has been discharged from the hospital and will continue his recovery at home after a serious illness. The 69-year-old former Scotland centre-back, who was reported as “seriously ill” on 9 June, is now on the mend.

In a family statement released on the club’s website on Sunday, it was confirmed that Hansen will “continue his recovery at home.” The statement expressed deep gratitude for the support received: “Alan, Janet, Adam, Lucy, and family would like to thank everybody for their wonderful messages of love and support. It has been overwhelming and has helped enormously. We also hugely appreciate the ongoing respect that has been shown for our privacy as Alan continues his recovery.”

Hansen is a beloved figure in football, having enjoyed a distinguished career with Liverpool, where he won multiple league titles and European Cups. He also earned significant acclaim as a football pundit following his retirement from playing.

Fans and fellow players have expressed their relief and well-wishes for Hansen’s continued recovery. The outpouring of support reflects the high regard in which he is held both within and beyond the football community.

As Hansen recovers at home, his family continues to appreciate the respect shown for their privacy and the supportive messages from fans worldwide. Liverpool FC and its supporters eagerly await further positive news regarding Hansen’s health.
