Four Injured in Fairground Ride Failure at Lambeth Country Show in London

Four people have been hospitalized following a catastrophic fairground ride failure at the Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park, London. The incident occurred around 6:20 PM, sending emergency services rushing to the scene.

Eyewitnesses recounted the terrifying moment when the ride malfunctioned, causing passengers to be hurled through the air. “All hell broke loose,” one attendee told MailOnline. “People were screaming and crying, it was like a horror movie.”

Another witness described the chaotic aftermath: “People were running towards us, crying and screaming. I saw a lady with blood streaming down her face being carried off by paramedics. The area was quickly cordoned off with higher fences and black sheets for privacy.”

Lambeth Police confirmed the incident in a statement: “Emergency services responded at around 6:20 PM on Saturday to a fairground ride failure at the Lambeth Country Show in Brockwell Park. Four people have been taken to hospital, and we await an assessment of their conditions. No one is trapped on the ride.”

The Health & Safety Executive has been informed, and inquiries are underway to determine the cause of the failure. The area around the ride remains cordoned off as part of the ongoing investigation.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service provided further details: “We were called at 6:18 PM today to reports of an incident at Brockwell Park, SE24. Multiple resources, including four ambulance crews and members of our hazardous area response team, were dispatched. We treated four people at the scene and transported them to major trauma centers.”

Lambeth Council also issued a statement: “The incident was reported around 6:20 PM today, and emergency services were quickly on the scene to treat the injured. Paramedics and on-site teams cordoned off the area, and those injured have been taken to nearby hospitals for further treatment. The situation is being closely monitored. The area around the ride is secure, and the funfair has been closed.”

As the investigation continues, the community remains in shock over the unexpected and traumatic event.
