Real Madrid and Atletico Monitor Manchester United Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo

Spanish giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are closely monitoring Manchester United’s England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as speculation grows over his Old Trafford future.

The 20-year-old, who started in the Euro 2024 final for England, has reportedly dropped down the pecking order at United and is now considering offers from other clubs. Sources suggest Mainoo is reluctant to leave but recognises that his opportunities in Manchester may be limited given competition for places in central midfield.

Chelsea, who have previously shown strong interest in Mainoo, are not expected to move at this stage due to their current depth in midfield. However, both Madrid clubs are said to be keeping a close watch on developments as they weigh potential bids.

Mainoo’s desire to secure regular football is heightened by the fact that this is a World Cup year, making playing time essential for his hopes of remaining in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
