Three men have been jailed for multiple sexual offences, including rape, committed against two girls in Kirklees between 2002 and 2005.
Javaid Hussain, 51, of Huddersfield, Sarfraz Hussain Riaz, 42, of Dewsbury, and Mohammed Farook, 55, of Huddersfield, were sentenced at Leeds Crown Court.
Hussain was sentenced to 13 years in prison after being found guilty of two counts of rape. The offences were committed between 2004 and 2005 against a girl who was aged 16 when the abuse began.
Riaz was sentenced to six years in prison after admitting rape of the same victim. The offence took place in 2005 in the Kirklees area. The court heard he will serve this sentence following a separate 15-year prison term he is currently serving.
Farook was sentenced to six years in prison after being convicted of two counts of sexual assault. His offences were committed in the Kirklees area between 2002 and 2004 against a victim who was under the age of 16 at the time.
The victim of Hussain and Riaz told the court the abuse had caused long-term psychological harm, including post-traumatic stress disorder.
In a statement read to the court, she described experiencing ongoing emotional distress and said the abuse had affected her throughout her life.
A second victim, who reported Farook’s offences in 2020, told the court she continues to experience the impact of the abuse, including sleep disruption and recurring nightmares.
Detective Chief Inspector Rob Stevens said the victims showed courage in coming forward and that the investigation led to the convictions.
He said police and prosecutors remain committed to pursuing offences of this nature, regardless of when they occurred.
