Kylian Mbappe’s availability for France’s crucial Euro 2024 match against the Netherlands remains in doubt following an injury he sustained in their opening game against Austria. The 25-year-old forward was forced off the pitch during the 1-0 victory after colliding with Austrian defender Kevin Danso.

The incident occurred during an aerial challenge, with Mbappe’s face striking Danso’s shoulder in the follow-through. Following the clash, Mbappe was taken to a hospital in Dusseldorf, where it was confirmed that he had suffered a broken nose. After receiving medical attention, he returned to the national team’s camp.

The French Football Federation (FFF) has stated that they will provide an update on Mbappe’s condition on Wednesday. Despite the injury, Mbappe does not require surgery. Instead, he will be fitted with a protective mask to safeguard his nose during recovery.

Mbappe’s contribution to the match was significant; his cross led to the game’s only goal, which was an own goal by Austrian defender Max Wober. As France’s captain, his presence on the field is pivotal for the team’s performance.

France’s manager and medical team are closely monitoring Mbappe’s condition to determine if he can play in the upcoming match against the Netherlands. The team and fans alike are hopeful that the star forward will be able to participate, given his crucial role in the squad.
