A tragic incident occurred in Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, where a mother of five, Siriati, 36, was killed and consumed by a 30-foot python. Siriati was on her way to the market with her brother on the morning of July 2 when she was attacked by the giant snake.

The python bit her leg and coiled around her, crushing her to death before attempting to swallow her. Siriati’s husband, Adiansa, 30, grew concerned when she did not arrive at her brother’s location. He retraced her steps through the jungle and discovered her slippers on the grass. Nearby, he found the massive snake with a visibly large belly.

Adiansa killed the snake with a wooden stake and, with the help of villagers, cut it open to find Siriati’s lifeless body inside. The gruesome discovery confirmed the worst fears of her family and community.

Siteba Village Secretary Iyang, 38, confirmed that Siriati was killed around 7:30 am local time. She had been visiting her brother to buy medicine for her youngest child. Villagers and officials gathered at the scene, and her body was taken home for burial the following morning.

Walenrang Police Chief, Adjunct Police Commissioner Idul, reported that Siriati’s body was found intact, although her bones were likely crushed by the snake’s constriction. The incident has left the community in shock, mourning the loss of a beloved mother and neighbor.
