Bus Crash in Northern Nigeria Claims the Lives of 25 Muslim Children Celebrating Prophet Muhammad’s Birth

A devastating bus accident in Kaduna state, northern Nigeria, has claimed the lives of at least 25 children and left many others injured. The tragic incident occurred in Lere district on Sunday as the children, adherents of the Tijjaniyya Sufi order, were travelling to Saminaka to celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad during Maulud celebrations.

The overloaded bus, carrying 63 children, lost control and collided with a truck, resulting in 15 fatalities at the scene. An additional 10 children died from their injuries after being taken to local hospitals, according to local road safety officials. However, organizers of the pilgrimage have reported a higher death toll of 40, with 31 others injured, 11 of whom are in critical condition.

The children were making their way from Kwandare village to Saminaka for the religious festivities when the accident occurred. Local authorities are still assessing the situation, and updates regarding the injured victims are expected as investigations continue.
