The controversy surrounding the alleged rape of a female student at Punjab College has intensified after the purported victim’s father publicly denied that such an incident occurred. In a video statement, the father expressed concern that his daughter’s name was being used for propaganda on social media, which he found distressing.

He clarified that his daughter had suffered a spinal injury after falling, and that medical reports confirming this had been submitted to the police. The denial from the family has added further complexity to a case that has already garnered significant attention.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sheherbano Naqvi also addressed the situation, stating that an official First Information Report (FIR) could only be filed if credible information is presented. She urged people not to spread false information, which could further complicate the investigation.

In response to the allegations, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has formed a high-level committee to investigate the matter. The six-member committee will be led by the Punjab chief secretary and will include the home secretary, advocate general, and secretaries of higher education and healthcare. The committee has the authority to add more members as necessary to facilitate the investigation.

The committee’s primary task will be to gather evidence, record statements from students, teachers, and the college administration, and assess the overall handling of the situation by the college and local authorities. The investigation will focus on uncovering the facts surrounding the alleged assault and ensuring a thorough review of all aspects of the case.
