President Donald Trump has said he would like journalists to be granted access to Gaza to report on humanitarian operations, Reuters reports.
Speaking in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump told reporters: “I’d like to see that happen. Sure. I would be very fine with journalists going. And it’s a very dangerous position to be in, as you know, if you’re a journalist, but I would like to see it.”
Israel has barred foreign reporters from entering Gaza since the outbreak of the war in October 2023, unless they are escorted by Israeli military personnel. The restriction has drawn criticism from press freedom organisations, who argue it limits independent reporting from inside the territory.
Trump’s comments come as humanitarian agencies continue to warn of severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies in Gaza, amid ongoing conflict and heavy restrictions on movement.
