Police seized a £400,000 Rolls-Royce Cullinan in Bradford after stopping the driver for not wearing a seatbelt and then discovering he was uninsured.
Officers from Operation Steerside stopped the luxury vehicle on Lilycroft Road after noticing the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
Checks later showed there was no insurance in place for the vehicle.
West Yorkshire Police said the driver claimed he believed he was covered by third-party insurance because a friend had lent him the car, but officers quickly established that was not the case.
Police then seized the Rolls-Royce and reported the driver for the offences.
In a statement, officers said that while the car may have stood out because of its value and hand-painted detailing, insurance laws apply in exactly the same way as they do for any other vehicle on the road.
The force added that there was no insurance cover in place at all.
