A Teesside restaurant owner has admitted sexually assaulting a child and taking indecent images. Mohammed Mizanoor Rahman, 35, who owns the Norton restaurant Pangea, pleaded guilty to four charges during a short hearing at Teesside Crown Court.
Rahman, also known as Mizzy and of Durham Street in Stockton, admitted two counts of assaulting a child under 13 by sexual touching and two counts of taking an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child. Judge Jonathan Carroll said the offences were “extremely serious” and told Rahman that a custodial sentence was inevitable.
The judge ordered a pre-sentence report so Rahman’s dangerousness can be assessed before sentencing. He also noted that analysis of the defendant’s mobile phones and digital devices is still under way, with that work expected to be completed within 28 days.
Rahman was remanded in custody and will return to court on 7 July for sentence. His name was added to the sex offenders’ register.
