Police have launched a manhunt for a 39-year-old man who failed to appear in court after being charged in connection with an alleged rape in Rotherham.
Mohammed Ismail, from Birmingham, has been wanted since June 2.
South Yorkshire Police said he had been charged following an investigation into a reported rape in Rotherham in 2024 and had been due to appear in court on June 2, 2026.
He did not attend the hearing and officers have since been carrying out enquiries to locate him.
A warrant for his arrest is now active.
Police Appeal For Help
South Yorkshire Police said: “Mohammed Ismail, 39, from Birmingham, is wanted for failing to appear at court following a reported rape in Rotherham in 2024.
“Officers investigated the rape and Ismail was charged, and he was due to appear in court on 2 June 2026.
“Ismail failed to appear and enquiries to locate him have been ongoing.”
The force has now appealed directly to the public for information about where he may be.
Known Links To Sheffield And Birmingham
Police describe Ismail as around 6ft tall and of slim build.
He is known to frequent the Rockingham Street area of Sheffield and has links to Birmingham.
