The search for 19-year-old Jay Slater, missing for twelve days, will intensify on Saturday with a major new search operation in Tenerife. Spain’s Civil Guard has extended the search area to around 30 kilometers, focusing on three primary ravines in the Masca region. Specialist dog teams from Madrid will assist in the effort.

Authorities have called for the collaboration of volunteer associations, including civil protection units, firefighters, and private volunteers with search operation expertise. The expanded search will cover forest trails and tracks within the Buenavista del Norte municipality.

An urgent appeal has been issued by the Civil Guard for volunteer experts to join the search. The operation will commence at 9 AM on Saturday, June 29, with the meeting point at the Mirador de la Cruz de Hilda in Masca. Volunteers are essential to navigate the steep, rocky terrain, which features numerous ravines, paths, and uneven areas.

A spokesperson for the Civil Guard stressed the importance of this coordinated effort due to the challenging nature of the terrain and the extensive area that requires coverage. The community’s support is critical in this search for Jay Slater.
