The Princess of Wales, Catherine, has announced her attendance at the upcoming Trooping the Colour on Saturday, in what will be her first public appearance this year following her cancer diagnosis and abdominal surgery in January. This significant update on her health journey was shared in a personal message, accompanied by a new photograph taken by Matt Porteous near her Windsor home.

Catherine revealed that while she is making “good progress,” her treatment is still ongoing and will continue for several more months. “I am not out of the woods yet,” she stated, emphasizing the ongoing nature of her battle with cancer.

This is the most detailed update since the princess disclosed her diagnosis in March. In her message, Catherine reflected on the fluctuating nature of chemotherapy, acknowledging the presence of both good and bad days. “On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well,” she explained.

She shared her journey of learning patience and dealing with uncertainty, focusing on taking each day as it comes and listening to her body’s needs for healing. The princess expressed deep gratitude for the public’s support, which she said has been instrumental for her and Prince William during challenging times. “It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” she noted.

During Trooping the Colour, Catherine will participate in the carriage parade alongside her children and join the family group waving from the Buckingham Palace balcony. This event, a birthday parade for King Charles III, will see the monarch “delighted that the princess is able to attend tomorrow’s events,” according to a palace spokesman.

Despite her attendance at this significant event, Kensington Palace emphasized that Catherine’s return to public duties is not yet full-time. She has begun working from home and plans to attend some events over the summer, but these plans remain flexible and could change based on her health.

The princess’s courageous public acknowledgment of her illness and treatment reflects her resilience and dedication to her royal duties, even amidst personal health challenges. As she continues her battle with cancer, her presence at Trooping the Colour will undoubtedly be a poignant and inspiring moment for many.
