Tensions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) escalated as Sher Afzal Marwat, a prominent party leader, publicly demanded the resignation of Senator Shibli Faraz following Omar Ayub’s departure as the party’s Secretary General. This development was reported amidst growing dissatisfaction with the party’s current leadership.

Marwat expressed his endorsement of Ayub’s decision to resign on the social media platform X, advocating for a broader leadership change within PTI. He praised Ayub’s decision as wise and urged other key figures within the party to relinquish their roles.

Highlighting the party’s recent challenges, Marwat criticized the PTI leadership for their failure to achieve significant objectives. He pointed out the party’s inability to reclaim its mandate and mobilize public support, despite the incarceration of its leaders, including the party’s figurehead, Imran Khan.

Marwat specifically called for Shibli Faraz to step down from his positions as a party officer and as the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate. He argued that these changes were necessary to liberate the party from what he referred to as the “Qabza mafia,” indicating a faction within PTI that he believes has usurped control.
