Detectives have released CCTV footage of two men they want to speak to as part of the investigation into the rape of a 13-year-old girl in east London.
The teenager was attacked in Bethnal Green in August 2024.
Police said the victim reported seeing two men on Whitechapel Road before they led her into Weavers Fields, where she was raped.
She was helped by members of the public following the attack before police were called to the scene.
CCTV Released Two Years On
Detectives have now released new CCTV footage showing two men they believe may be able to assist the investigation.
A reward of up to £10,000 has also been offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Police say extensive enquiries have been carried out since the attack, including reviewing CCTV, interviewing witnesses and collecting forensic evidence.
Family Describe ‘Devastating’ Impact
As part of the renewed appeal, the victim’s family spoke about the lasting effect the attack has had on their daughter.
They said: “Our daughter continues to live in fear for her safety and no longer feels comfortable being on her own.
“Wherever possible, we accompany her because she simply doesn’t feel safe without us.”
The family said the teenager should have been able to enjoy her teenage years, spend time with friends and grow in confidence, but that much of that had been taken away from her.
They added: “While we have done everything we can to support her and stay strong as a family, the impact has been devastating.
“We are asking anyone who knows anything about what happened that night to come forward.”
Police Appeal For Information
Detective Chief Inspector Anna Deighton, who is leading the investigation, described the rape as an “awful attack”.
She said: “Two years on, our enquiries into this investigation are continuing.
“If you recognise the men in the CCTV we have released with this appeal, please come forward and speak to us.
“If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, it is vital you get in touch.”
Crimestoppers Offers £10,000 Reward
Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information which leads to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
Alexa Loukas, regional manager for London at Crimestoppers, said the impact of the attack continued to be felt by the victim and her family.
She said someone may hold information capable of helping police identify those responsible.
