In a tragic development, Spanish police have found the body of missing teenager Jay Slater in a remote mountainous part of Tenerife. A spokesman for the Civil Guard announced today, “After 29 constant days of searching, the body of the young man has been found in the Masca area.”

Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, had been missing since June 17. Despite extensive search efforts, including the recent deployment of a specialist rescue team from the Netherlands, Jay’s body was discovered in a difficult-to-reach area.

Authorities suggest that the cause of death is likely to have been “an accident or fall” given the challenging terrain of the Masca region. This discovery marks the end of a grueling search that involved local police, specialist volunteers, and significant community support.

Our thoughts are with Jay’s family and friends during this difficult time. The community has rallied around them throughout the search, and the outpouring of support highlights the impact Jay had on those who knew him.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
