Three more suspects arrested in connection with the death of young madrassa student Muhammad Faizan in Kallar Syedan have been sent to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.
Haji Muhammad Sharif, Asim Sharif and Qari Imran were produced before Kallar Syedan Area Magistrate Sidra-ul-Nisa after the completion of their physical remand.
Investigators sought additional physical remand, but the court declined the request after hearing arguments from defence counsel Ehsan Kiyani.
The three men were instead ordered to be transferred to Adiala Jail on judicial remand.
Six Accused Now In Adiala Jail
With the latest order, all six people who have so far been accused in connection with the case have now been transferred to Adiala Jail after periods of police remand.
The investigation and legal proceedings remain ongoing.
The allegations against those accused have not been proven in court.
What Happened To Faizan?
The case centres on the death of Muhammad Faizan, a young student at a religious seminary in Nalla Muslimana.
BPI News previously reviewed the First Information Report filed by Faizan’s father, Muhammad Sultan.
According to the FIR, Sultan agreed to send his eldest son to the Mohi-ul-Islam Sadiqiya seminary after Qari Sanaullah Chishti approached him and said he was already taking other children from the area.
Sultan said he was assured that Faizan would receive food, accommodation and religious education at the institution.
Around three months later, Sanaullah accompanied Faizan’s body back to his family in Bhakkar.
The family alleges that when they removed the child’s clothes while preparing him for burial, they discovered welts and other marks of violence on his body.
Father Alleged Beating Over Lessons
Sultan told police that he later contacted Sanaullah and questioned him about the injuries.
According to the father’s statement in the FIR, Sanaullah allegedly admitted beating Faizan because the child had failed to memorise his lessons and said his condition deteriorated afterwards.
BPI News has not independently obtained that alleged admission, and it remains part of the father’s complaint to police.
Police later described multiple marks of severe physical assault on Faizan’s body.
Subsequent reporting, citing a senior police officer familiar with the investigation and a family member, said the post-mortem examination found multiple fractures in one arm as well as signs of severe beating elsewhere.
BPI News has not reviewed the signed post-mortem report and has therefore treated those findings as attributed claims rather than independently verified medical conclusions.
Allegations Of Delayed Treatment And Concealment
The FIR also names a number of people whom Faizan’s father alleges became involved after the beating.
According to Sultan’s account, Sanaullah contacted Hamza Tayyab, the in-charge of the Nalla Muslimana seminary, who allegedly said he would inform administrator Asim Sharif.
The FIR further alleges that instructions were later relayed to contact Imran, who was in charge of the Sir Suba Shah branch.
Sultan alleges that those involved concealed what had happened and delayed proper medical treatment, contributing to his son’s death.
Those remain allegations which investigators and the courts must determine.
Haji Muhammad Sharif Previously Gave His Account
BPI News previously reviewed an interview with Haji Muhammad Sharif, who said he oversees approximately 35 seminaries.
Sharif said he had been in Britain when Faizan was beaten and returned to Pakistan on August 22.
He acknowledged learning about the beating after his return but said he had not been told how serious the child’s injuries were.
He said he understood the marks to be relatively minor and denied having seen Faizan while he was injured.
Sharif also acknowledged that his son Asim had been informed about the incident.
His account differed from the father’s allegation that several people knowingly helped conceal the beating and delayed appropriate medical care.
